Accuracy of Automatic Mechanical Watches

Lay the watch flat with the winding button downwards ( to lose a few seconds if it is fast)
Lay the watch vertically with the winding button uppermost (to lose more seconds if it is too fast)

Setting of Day/Date for Automatic Mechanical watches
The day/date will change gradually between 9 PM TO 4 AM. The automatic watches are designed that the calendar changes once every 24 hrs. The 12 o'clock marker will determine AM/PM. So do not manually adjust the day/date between this period as it will damage the day/date internal gear.
